The ERAIKINN project. Regional economic diversification through the creation of Innovative Companies is a project of cross-border cooperation between actors from three regions of the Franco-Spanish border (Lea-Artibai, Alto Deba and Garazi Baigorri) that consider that to promote regional economic development and improve the quality of life of citizens, it is necessary to develop innovative economic activities generating higher added value.

Specifically, the ERAIKINN project aims to promote the creation and development of Innovative Companies, through the improvement in the identification, definition and advice to developers and building partnerships and collaboration environments.

The ERAIKINN project is funded by the European Union through the Territorial Cooperation Programme Spain-France-Andorra (European Regional Development Fund -FEDER- 65%).

 

OBJECTIVES

The aim of ERAIKINN project is to promote the creation and development of innovative companies, through improvement in the identification, definition and advice to developers and building partnerships and collaboration environments.

This is embodied in the following specific objectives:

• Know the existing competencies in participating regions in the project.

• Identify existing trends in the development of Innovative Enterprises.

• Know the existing working methods in defining strategic sectors of activity to promote the implementation of Innovative Enterprises.

• Identify the most appropriate areas/sectors of activity to promote the development of Innovative Enterprises.

• Define the most appropriate methods to promote the development of Innovative Enterprises.

• Create tools to work with the existing business fabric in the set-up of Innovative Enterprises.

• Experience in creating a series of innovative start-ups in defined sectors.

• Promote the creation of a network of start-ups among the participating regions in the project.

The project aims to create 6 new innovative enterprises in the participating regions (two in each district), and develop a network of start-ups and other actors at the international level that allows the creation of partnerships and collaborations.

 

METHODOLOGY

ERAIKINN will be articulated through a network of "innovation antennas" which will be responsible for developing the project's activities.

The innovation antenna network consists of:

• Local innovation antennas : Local antennas are located in the regions participating in the project. They are responsible for establishing relationships with local economic fabric as well as identifying opportunities and potential developers of innovative business projects (businesses and/or individuals).

• International innovation antennas . Initially located in the headquarters of the partners involved in the project, they will travel to areas of international reference in innovation. Their aim is to build relationships, identify allies, establish partnerships and identify opportunities to create innovative enterprises in the participating regions.

The participants in the ERAIKINN project are:

* Partners: Agencia de Desarrollo Leartibai, Saiolan, Indar Developpement, Cámara de Comercio de Baiona.
